VLAN#

The built-in switch of D-Series telephones supports the separation of networks into logical units, so called virtual lans (VLAN). The phone itself can be put into a VLAN, while the optionally to the PC port attached device can be put into another VLAN or work without.

Configuring the phone to use VLAN#

To put the phone into a VLAN, the fields Phone VLAN ID and Phone VLAN Priority must be filled and Phone VLAN must be activated. Every network-packet sent out by the phone will then be tagged accordingly and the phone won't receive packets that are not tagged correctly.

Configuring the PC port to use VLAN#

To put a device connected to the PC port into a VLAN, the fields PC port VLAN ID and PC port VLAN Priority must be filled and PC port VLAN must be activated. Every network-packet sent out by the device attacted will then be tagged accordingly and the device won't receive packets that are not tagged correctly.

Known issues#

As of now, the transparent mode on the PC port of D200, D400 and D600 telephones does not work if the phone itself uses VLAN and the device connected to the PC port uses VLAN on its own. Until another solution has been found, users are advised to use the VLAN-configuration in the telephone's switch to put devices connected to the PC port into the correct VLAN.
